I found the small boxes of Wholly Guacamole at HEB today for $2.58, so just $0.58 after coupon. I saw Wholly Guacamole in a couple of different places in the store. For those of you in San Angelo, the boxes that were $2.58 were on the back wall...refrigerated section next to the meat.

With this coupon you should be able to get a great deal on this at any store you choose to shop at.

HEB--A couple scenarios for $0.50 lunch meat

Yesterday a reader left a comment on my post about the misprint in HEB's ad about the $1.00 lunchmeat. She said that there was a $2.00 HEB coupon for John Morrell Off the Bone Sandwich Meat...making each container just $0.50 after coupon.

I looked on a few discussion boards, and saw that this was mentioned by several people, so I decided to make a trip to HEB this morning to see if I could find this deal.

I walked all over HEB and couldn't find the coupon at all. I am guessing that this is a regional coupon and not available at all HEB stores.

If you live in San Angelo, it looks like we are out of luck on this deal, but for those of you who live in other areas be sure to keep your eyes peeled for this coupon. I would definitely check on the lunchmeat aisle and also on the big board of coupons at the front of most HEB stores.

If you find this deal, then STOCK UP...$0.50 is a GREAT price. I always throw lunch meat into our freezer, and I never have any problems with it.

Now, for those of you in San Angelo, my trip to HEB wasn't all in vain. I did find a large stack of Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh Lunchmeat reduced to $1.50 because of a short sell by date. I picked several up...combined with the $1.00 off HEB store coupon, I was able to snag them for $0.50 each. I'm not sure how long they will last at the store, but if you are at HEB be sure to swing by and see if you spot any at that price.

Always be on the look out for the bright orange stickers...and don't forget to combine those prices with coupons for rock bottom prices.

I was looking through the HEB ad this morning, and I got very excited about a deal that is featured on the 2nd page of the ad:

I am running low on lunchmeat, so I was happy to see lunchmeat at a stock up price.

I went to HEB to buy my lunchmeat, and there are signs on the shelves that say this is a misprint...ad is supposed to read $1.00 off with in store coupon.

I am a bit disappointed, but hopefully we'll see a good deal on lunchmeat soon. :)

$0.30 might not seem like much, but remember this will triple at Albertsons and deduct $0.90.

I was at Albertsons yesterday, and these were priced at $1.50, so $.60 after coupon. These go on sale for $1.00 at Albertsons quite regularly, so I'm going to hold onto the coupon and wait for a better sale. The coupon I printed doesn't expire until December 31st.

Also, this is a great time of year to stock up on some of these pantry staples and BLESS someone else!! Think about putting a box together of some staples and dropping them by the food pantry...or call up a local church and ask if they know someone that could use some help. I just looked at Albertsons ad online, and it looks like there is going to be a pretty good deal on cereal starting tomorrow.

Select General Mills Cereal are supposed to be part of a Mega Event...buy 10 products and receive $5.00 off instantly. Lucky Charms and Honey Nut Cheerios are included in this event, and will be $1.88 wyb 10 participating products. There are some great printable coupons available that will make these just $0.88 each.

If your family eats this cereal, then I suggest going ahead and printing the coupons now while they are available.

I went to HEB today to see if I could spot any deals worth mentioning, and I thought some of you might be interested in this one.

Tide Detergent (28 to 32 load) are priced at $7.54, and there are HEB store coupons for $2.00 off...making each bottle $5.54. Tide is a Proctor and Gamble product, so you could do the following deal:

Buy: 4 bottles of Tide Detergent ($7.54 x 4 = $30.16)
-use 4 $2.00 coupons (found at HEB...or you can also use the ones in yesterday's P&G insert)
Final Price: $22.16 AND receive a coupon at check out for $10.00 off your next purchase.

If you factor in the $10.00 catalina into your total, it would be like paying $10.16 for 4 bottles of Tide (or just $3.04 a bottle). I know you can get other brands of laundry detergent for a lower price, but I wanted to point this out since I know some of you are brand loyal to Tide. Also, this is one of the lowest prices I've seen on Tide in a long time, so you might want to take advantage of this.

To put it in perspective, Sam's sells a bottle of Tide Detergent (96 loads) for close to $20.00. If you purchase 4 32 load bottles (128 loads) you'll be getting a much better deal at HEB.

I just received an email about this deal, and thought you guys might be interested in it. Tomorrow, October 28th, IHOP is running a special Halloween deal. Kids 12 and younger will receive a FREE Scary Face Pancake...no other purchase is necessary.

I just called the IHOP in San Angelo to make sure that they will be participating in this, and the lady I talked to said that they were. I also asked if it would be one free pancake for each paying adult and she said no...all kids can receive a free pancake, no matter how many adults there are.

This definitely doesn't look like your normal healthy supper, but it might be a good idea for dessert. :)

I remember hearing about this Proctor and Gamble rebate several weeks ago, but I didn't pay too close attention to it. I decided to look it up again since HEB is running a great Proctor and Gamble promotion right now.

Go here and you'll be able to print a rebate form from Proctor and Gamble. If you spend $50.00 (BEFORE COUPONS) on Venus, Olay, Secret, Cover Girl, Clairol, Pantene, Safeguard, Ivory, Aussie, and/or Herbal Essences you'll receive a $10.00 Rebate and they will also donate $10.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

With the promotion that HEB is running right now, you should easily be able to turn this into a money maker with the right coupons...or if you have no coupons, you should still get a GREAT deal after the HEB catalina combined with the $10.00 rebate.

You will need to hurry because your receipts can only be dated through 10/31. You'll have until November 30th to mail off for your rebate. I always try to mail mine off as soon as I get my receipts because otherwise I end up forgetting about it.

You are allowed to do this rebate once per household, and you will need to submit your receipts...you don't have to purchase all the products in one transaction...just remember to keep track of your receipts.

I love it when I get the chance to get FREE money...and right around the holidays too!!

HEB--FREE PB&J Lunchables with Fruit

While I was at HEB this morning I noticed a large display of Lunchables close to the cash registers. There was no price listed on them, so I asked the cashier to price check them for me...they rang up at $0.50 each. These are normally priced around$2.00, so a great deal on these even with no coupons.

I checked in my coupon binder, and found 3 tearpad coupons for $1.00 off 2 Lunchables with Fruit...so I picked up 6 completely FREE.

I talked to the cashier, and she said there were tearpad coupons for them by the lunchmeat, but I didn't go back and check. If you are at HEB, you might want to look for them though.

One thing to note, the ones I pick up have a sell by date of tomorrow, 10/27. I opened one of them up when I got home, and the fruit cups inside the Lunchables don't expire until April, so I am not too concerned about the expiration date.

Let me know if you find any of these...I am guessing they will go fast. My youngest son, asks for these every time we go to the store, but I cannot stomach the thought of spending a couple dollars on something I could make at home for a few cents...he was super excited when I told him we could buy 6 of them today...completely FREE!!

I was looking through the HEB ad and wasn't too thrilled with any of the deals, until I came across the Proctor and Gamble promotion. If you have the right coupons this should make for an AWESOME deal!!

If you purchase $30.00 of Proctor and Gamble items in a single transaction, you will receive a catalina coupon for $10.00 off your next in store visit. You will need to reach the $30.00 BEFORE coupons, so after coupons you will be paying a lot less than that.

All Proctor and Gamble coupons have a limit of using 4 like coupons per transaction, so you will need to make sure that you only use 4 LIKE coupons while doing your deal.

Now is the time to pull out your Proctor and Gamble coupon inserts and try to match up some sales.

There has been a lot of confusion concerning Buy one Get one Free coupons and sales, so I thought I would try to clarify how things work in San Angelo.

I have had a lot of people ask me questions about how to use Buy one Get one Free sales, and I have also heard a lot of people giving out wrong information. I can't state this enough times...as couponers it is so important that we use our coupons ethically!! Yes, you can save more money by trying to cheat the system, but this makes it harder on every other coupon shopper, not to mention it is illegal!! Manufacturer's don't have to issue coupons, so we need to make sure and not take advantage of the system.

This is a question that I get quite a bit...Can you use 2 Buy one Get one Free coupons to get 2 items free?
-The answer is no. You can use ONE Buy one Get one Free coupon to purchase 2 items...one will be free and the other you will pay full price for.

Can you use a $1.00 off 1 coupon with a Buy one Get one Free Coupon?
-This is kind of a gray area in couponing, but one that more and more stores are addressing in their coupon policies. At Wal-Mart you are NOT allowed to use a dollar off coupon along with a BOGO coupon. At Target you are only allowed to use a dollar off coupon with a BOGO coupon if one of the coupons is man. coupon and the other coupon is a Target coupon.

Example: 1 Target coupon for Buy one Nivea Lotion Get one Free
1 man. coupon for $1.00 off Nivea Lotion

OR:
1 man. coupon for Buy one Nivea Lotion Get one Free
1 Target coupon for $1.00 off Nivea Lotion

CANNOT combine a BOGO man. coupon with a $1.00 off man. coupon, or a Target BOGO coupon with a $1.00 off Target coupon.

Different websites/couponers have differing ideas about using a dollar off coupon with a BOGO coupon. Based on the changes in Wal-Mart and Target policies, I no longer feel comfortable combining these coupons at any stores.

Can you use a Buy one Get one Free coupon with a Buy one Get one Free sale?
-This is different for different stores...even the same stores in different areas. I will be giving the information for our local stores (San Angelo).

CVS...Our local CVS stores are not supposed to accept a BOGO coupon with a BOGO sale. You might get a cashier that will override this, but please don't try it. The cashiers can get in trouble, and it really isn't worth it.

Walgreens...Again, our Walgreens will not accept a BOGO coupon with a BOGO sale.

Albertsons...Albertsons will accept a BOGO coupon with a BOGO sale, but you need to purchase three items when doing this. Purchase 3 items...one will be free with the store sale, one will be free with coupon, and one you will pay full price for...three for the price of one.

Wal-Mart--FREE Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Bowl Cleaner

I was looking through the new Wal-Mart ad and found a GREAT deal!!

Wal-Mart has Scrubbing Bubbles One Step Toilet Bowl Cleaner System on sale for $3.97. This is an awesome price by itself...it is normally priced at $9.47. There was a coupon for $4.00 off any Scrubbing Bubbles One Step Toilet Cleaner Starter Kit in the 9/11 SmartSource insert...making it FREE!!

I picked one up today. When I opened the box up there was a paper with two more $3.00 coupons inside...making an additional kit just $0.97. A GREAT deal!!

I picked mine up at the Wal-Mart on Sherwood Way. They were not on the shelves with the normal Scrubbing Bubbles Cleaners, but were on a display shelf in between the cleaners and pet food. There was a large supply of them there when I was there this afternoon, so you might want to head over there if you have any coupons.

Please remember that as couponers, you need to leave product on the shelves for others. It's never a good idea to clear shelves or hoard items.

If I don't see a lot of good sale items then I will save the remainder of my weekly budget to use later in the month.

The last time I looked for this product, I found it at Wal-Mart for $0.97...so FREE after coupon!

I haven't looked, but I wouldn't be surprised if you could find this at HEB and Target as well.

Meal Plan (October--Week 1)

I cannot believe that it is already October. It seems like the weeks are just flying by. Before you know it Christmas will be here...and hopefully cooler temperatures.

I really encourage you to sit down and make a meal plan each week for your family. Take stock of your refrigerator, freezer, and pantry. When you are making your meal plan, use items that you already have on hand to create your meal plan. This will allow you to spend less on NEEDS at the grocery store and also avoid wasting perishable food items. I try to make two trips to the grocery store each week. The first trip is for all the items that my family NEEDS for the week, and the second trip I focus on stocking up on items that are at their rock bottom prices. This allows me to keep a well stocked pantry and to feed my family well balanced meals.

I know that it is already the 3rd of the month, but I'm going to go ahead and include the meal plan for the past couple of days.

October 2:
Leftovers, Sandwiches

October 3:
Spaghetti with Meatballs, Salad

Can you believe the high value Cover Girl coupon that was in yesterday's Proctor and Gamble insert? A coupon for $8.00 off 2 Cover Girl Face Products is almost unheard of. This coupon should get us free, or close to free, products at several different stores.

I was at HEB today and I noticed that there were HEB "B" coupons for $1.25 off Cover Girl products that can be stacked with the $8.00 off 2 manufacturer's coupon. This will DEFINITELY get you free cosmetics.

The HEB coupon expires tomorrow, October 4th, so you don't have much time to get in on this deal.

I thought that most people would be running to Wal-Mart to use this coupon, so I thought I'd check HEB out first. HEB has a great supply of Cover Girl products, so you should have no problem finding a wide assortment of products.

Oh, I thought I should also address this...Cover Girl Face Products include concealer, foundation, powder, and blush...mascara, eye shadow, and lip products are NOT included in this. Please use the coupon in the way it was intended.

One more thing, the $8.00 coupon does beep at the register. I handed this coupon to the cashier first and he had to manually enter it. He checked the products to make sure I had purchased the correct items and had no problem entering in the coupon amount...just wanted to give any new couponers a heads up that this will probably beep at HEB.

Okay, you have to put in a little work to get this coupon. It took me just a couple of minutes, so you'll probably be able to do it in less time than that. :)

You'll be able to print a coupon for $1.50 off any Clorox 2 product by following these steps:

-Go here and enter your name and email address then agree to take the Pledge.

-You'll then need to fill out a short form to sign up.

-You will need to choose an outdoor activity to do with your kids (Hide and Seek, Tag, Soccer, etc.)

-Once you do the activity with your child, you can then go and click on the My Activities Green Tab on the top right side of the screen.

-Mark your activity as completed.

I stopped at the Walgreens across from HEB today and noticed a shopping cart full of toys marked down 75%. Even if you do not live in San Angelo, you will probably be finding a lot of summer toys clearanced, so it's always a good idea to keep your eyes open when you are out shopping.

Well, the last time I was at Albertsons I noticed that the KC BBQ Sauce was priced at $0.88...so FREE after $0.50 coupon is doubled.

Del Monte Vegetables--Price Matching at Wal-Mart

I have heard of several people taking the Albertsons ad into Wal-Mart and price matching the Del Monte Vegetables for $0.49 AND using the $2.00 off 10 coupon that is found in the ad on top of the price match.

I want to point out that you should NOT do this. The price in Albertsons' ad clearly states that the $0.49 price is AFTER COUPON.

I know that a lot of cashiers won't read the fine print in the ads, and will probably price match the item for you, but I strongly encourage you to be honest when price matching.

When people start abusing coupons/price matching it just makes it so much more difficult for everyone else, so PLEASE use your coupons and price matching ethically.

Walgreens--Changes in Coupon Policy

I stopped in at Walgreens (across from HEB) today, and it seems like there are several changes in regards to coupons/Register Rewards that I thought you should be aware of.

Please note that this concerns the Walgreens in San Angelo, TX. I know that many Walgreens in other cities/states are not changing their policies. I am not sure if different store managers are allowed to tweak the coupon policies as they see fit, but as customers, we always need to do our part to follow the policies at the stores we shop at. Also, please be advised that things can change at a moment's notice. It seems what is accepted one day, may not be accepted the next day. Always talk to your cashiers/managers so you can be up to date on any changes that have occurred.

First of all:
Walgreens is AGAIN no longer accepting manufacturer's coupons with the coupons in the monthly Walgreens coupon book. They are now considering these to be manufacturer's coupons, so they will NOT stack them. This is not the case in the majority of Walgreens, but something that the manager on duty told me is our local store's policy. They will continue to stack manufacturer's coupons with the in ad weekly coupons, but NOT with the monthly coupon book

Secondly:
At Walgreens it has always been the policy that you can't have more manufacturer's coupons than products. This can be an issue since Register Rewards are manufacturer's coupons and count in your coupon total. It used to be the case that if you purchased TWO products and had a coupon for $1.00 off 2 products, you would still be able to use one Register Reward...two coupons, two products. Now they have changed this. If you have one coupon that states $1.00 off 2 products, this coupon will attach to TWO products...if you want to use a Register Reward you will need to get a filler item. You can no longer just count your manufacturer's coupons and Register Rewards and make sure you have an equal number of products in your purchase. You must read the wording on all the coupons. If you have ONE coupon that is for $1.00 off 2...this ONE coupon now counts towards TWO items, not the normal ONE that it would before in the coupon to item ratio.

I know all of this is a little confusing, so please let me know if you have any quesions or need me to clarify.

Again, please remember that this is for the Walgreens in San Angelo (specifically the one across from HEB). You will need to check at the Walgreens that you regularly shop at to see if there have been any changes you need to be made aware of.

Del Monte Canned Vegetables $0.39 a can

Lowe's has Del Monte Canned Vegetables on sale for $0.59 this week, and there is a manufacturer's coupon that can be found in the Albertsons ad that will allow you to get them for $0.39 each.

Buy 10 Del Monte Canned Vegetables $0.59
-use coupon for $2.00 off 10 select Del Monte products (found in Albertsons ad) (Note, this is a manufacturer's coupon. I asked the cashier at Wal-Mart if I could use it. She said that since it was a manufacturer's coupon that there was no issue with me using it)
Final Price: $3.90 for 10 cans...$0.39 each

If you decide to do this deal at Wal-Mart, then you will need to use the Lowe's ad to price match.

Chicken Taco Soup Recipe

I had a request to post the recipe for Chicken Taco Soup. I've had this recipe for a LONG time, and have no idea where I got it. My family really likes it, so it is a go to soup in the fall/winter months.

Chicken Taco Soup:

Ingredients:
1 onion, chopped
1 can pinto beans (15 oz)
1 can black/red beans (15 oz)
1 can whole kernel corn (15 oz) (drained)
1 can tomato sauce (8 oz)
1 cup apple juice (You can substitute water if you don't have apple juice)
2 cans Ro-tel diced tomatoes with chilies (10 oz) (My kids aren't fans of spicy foods, so I usually substitute 2 cans of diced tomatoes)
1 package taco seasoning
2 to 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Sour Cream (optional)
Lettuce (optional)
Tomatoes (optional)
Crushed Tortilla Chips (optional)

Directions:
Place the onions, beans, corn, tomato sauce, apple juice and diced tomatoes in a slow cooker. Add taco seasoning and stir to blend. Place chicken breasts on top of soup mixture, just covering them with the liquid. Cook on low heat for 5 hours.

Remove chicken breasts from the soup and use a fork to shred the chicken. Return the chicken back to the soup and continue cooking for 2 hours.

I usually serve the soup with crushed up tortilla chips and then we each top our soup with what we would normally put on our tacos. I've also cooked this using ground beef instead of the chicken...just brown the beef and place it in the crockpot with all the other ingredients.

Even if you can't find the $1.99 price at your store, I am guessing that you'll still be able to snag a pair of nail clippers for a GREAT price after the coupon stack.
